I Ventured apon this phrase today and modified it a little just to sound better and be more grammatically correct, but it rings home for me how about you ?

 

 

The only competition in this game of life is yourself. And once in a while, someone touches your imagination and sparks a dream.

So whats been happening in my world, nothing much really, im back to school, havent built any boards in awhile, and basically have been just lounging around but that is quickly drawing to an end as i cant take it anymore. So things im doing have done or will be doing, First off im now the owner of the web domains www.roggs.ca and www.roggs.com and am currently working on a website off and on, so i might have one up in a month, as for building boards im retooling the way im making them so its taking awhile to procure all the new stuff. Might be taking a climbing course in the very near future, as a friend got me more intrested than i orgianlly was, so we will see how that turns out, but it would be another excellent activity to do in winter (gyms) and in the summer, and to keep me physically fit, oh im deathly affraid from falling from heights , thats one of the main reasons bouldering looks so appealing to me.

 

What else, purchased some new snowboard tuning\waxing gear, and have already burnt myself, got another 9 pounds of metal flake (glitter) yes yes i know i dont need more, but whatever, and also recieved a longboard in the mail today, yes i bought one even thoe i make them, i just like to see what is out there, plus im a longboarder first then a boardbuilder second so why cant i have boards from different manufactures, even if im probably gonna sell this one. but heres a pic

 

 

Edit: well just blew 340usd before customs, taxes, brokrage fees, but thats the name of the game when it comes to building boards

anyways been awhile since my last post of nothingness as i sure this one will be alos :P , So how life well im back in PG for christmas only been here 2-3 days now and am bored out of my mind as i dont have anything to do. So ive just been lounging and doing some reading, so we will see how many books i read before i go back to calgary. Passed this semesters course, wasnt sure i was going to and actually got a better mark than i thought.

Got a haircut yesterday, not sure how much i like it but we will see, plus in about a month it will be long again but with better shape so who knows.

Might atempt making saltwater taffy today (YUM) but i dont have much luck at candy making yet, as i need to get better but we will see.

My fathers garage is an absolute mess (go figure) even after i cleaned a 10foot wide swath down the one side this summer, so yah its all full now. My moms taking pottery classes, as she now has gotten into the art and crafts (ie hobbies) since me and my sister moved away, except my sister is back now. Now  my sister is taking classes (well done for this semester) and is working at the one phisio place in town, all while training for some Ironman she wants to compete in in 2007, so she doing her typical keeping herself busy routine.

 

So what have i been up to since my last post, to tell the truth absolutely nothing other than school, i finall got some board building wood, enough for 7-9 boards so that should keep me somewhat occupied, other than i still need to get some other stuff like a big vacuum bag and a better vacuum pump, and some foam to make foam molds, plus a transformmer to power my hotwire knife (for cutting the foam molds) that i still need to make. So in other terms i have plenty of stuff to do i just dont know where to start.

 

Me danny, dave, and keefer went to a part last week i think it was saturday, that was an adventure, the hot tub was nice, but rounding up danny at 7:30 in the morning took some effort as he had cloths all over the house, that coupled with him being just a tad drunk and high as kite took some time. So we rolled into our house a 8 in the morning where we all just crashed.

 

So i should go do something right now just dont have a clue what i could make a collapsable hot wire knife so i can take it home in my luggage but will have to work that one out as the one will be a tad larger than 4feet long. But i have an idea.

 

Well cant really think about what else has happened other than me going over engine and color choices again for the lotus and me being bummed out that i couldnt enter the latest boardbuilding contest that is going on right now, as so far i would have had the best board(for what i was going to do) vs what is entered right now (no im not cocky, just comparing what i can do vs what others have done) but im sure ill see some very nice boards put up before the posting deadline ends.

 

Well time to go get some breakfast and continue reading my book (didnt want to start into my Dune series, and didnt bring back my other scifi series thats in calgary so im finally getting around to reading the harry potter series)

Well if looking at the comments of a previous blog entry a person was wondering if i would make him a board, this is the final product of our collaberation

 

 

well its about 12 oclock at night and im just chilling, typing this on the big screen, tyler is snoozing ont couch beside me as im laying on the floor, and derryk and nadine are off in there room doing those things that are done when there door is closed. So whats happening well nothing really, ill be studying for a test on wensday, god i hate studying stuff i dislike. Almost done another board, but clearcoating is taking awhile so that sucks. My rooms clean again after well any project that comes then it looks like a bomb went off. I received some revenge skateboard trucks in the mail (what i won for winning a board building contest) there rather different feeling but i wont go into details. I so need to get back to the gym just cause i want to as well im a smaller guy but mainly just want to be more physically fit than i already am but we will see. Had a person freak out on me (wont mention names) the other day, it was rather out of the blue so of course i didnt know what to make of it, but if they felt like they needed to or whatever thats them, even thoe rather weird. Oh also i want to go back to the gym for another reason, i cant longboard that much anymore as the session is basically over, so my exercise has be dramatically reduced. Theres another boardbuilding contest comming up and i have no clue what i want to do, plus everyone will be gunning after me, oh fun. But i will need to get some wood before i do a board but that will be after this test.

So other than me being the goof that i am, well in my own way i guess thats about it, might go out in a bit depending on what danny is doing once he gets home.

But keep life rolling, even if there a few bumps, or some potholes you have to dodge.

Well just sitting here this morning, checking some things on the internet, doing a little reasearch, but figured i should share some updated photo's of my roomate dannys board, it still need to be wetsanded and poilshed but also the top of the board still needs a few more coats but it should be done for the weekend, Which we might have something going on saturday for a group of us getting together to go for a ride, but we will see.

 

 

as the title say i won the contest, i won with 49votes for my board, second place was with 23 votes and 3rd and 4th were with 14 and 13 respectfully.

 

 

Woohoo bragging rights are cool, but being me ill more than likely never use them, or want to as that would be self conceded, and well self conceded people are not very pleasant people to be around. So other than me being excited saying that i won or if asked or whatever i will more than likely not mention it from here on out, as im a humble person :D

Yah thats right im So bored

Yes well for the last couple months thats basically all i have talked about on here, but heck my hobbies are my passion, but whats happening in my life, well im getting along with the roomates/buddies, like my roomates girlfriend does need to get a job as its been like 2 months now and all she does is watch mindless brainsucking tv shows but thats her choice. Ive been doing the school thing, my labs i think are going well test on the other hand are on par with the class average which is bad.

 

My ipod nano is so cool as i like to listen to music when im out riding on my (things i said i wasnt going to mention) lol, i need to get back into the drawing, painting, and sculpting, but when you have to many hobbies that can be a problem. My big cuff bracelet one of the loops broke on it :( but i guess ill have to make a new one pretty soon as my arm feels naked without it.

 

What else well it was a full moon yesterday and all im gonna say is its a typical full mon as in lot of events seemed to get clustered in the 3 days that surrond one, ie bad events, friends relationships going sour, ect ect. Heck im gonna say it, but im more than likely gonna win that longboardbuilding contest i entered as right now its been like a week almost and im leading with 27 votes over the secondplace person for a total of 49 votes all together, it kinda sucks that the builders that i basically had my sights on didnt enter this contest, but the next contest i hope they enter, but also im gonna hve so many people now that will have there sights set on me lol, that only means one thing, and thats get better :P .

 

well we will see how life unfolds in the next while and have fun on the ride that is called life, so till my next non longboard post, take it easy

well heres dannys board, it no where near done due to my shitty painting skills, but that what you get for not painting regularly, but  yah stll lots more shading to go and me appling a red metal flake stringer on the top, also i will be doing something differnt for the letting on the bottom as what you see was just done in clalk but havent figured out yet what im doing but the lettering might go on the top instead of the bottom and be replaced by mabey a pinup girls or some little painting anyways heres the pic

well woke up at 1240 today first time ive done that in like 4 years at least, didnt do much today, i changed the trucks on "The Guardian" board to the s10's and then swaped the wheels on the s10's from the Pink Powerballs back to the dual combo 3dm Avilas that i was running with that board. Took it for a ride, and ill keep it like that for awhile, even if it does have a turning radius of a manhole cover, but when i was riding it, the wheels had a quarky thing they did when really carving hard, the lip would roll over causing the board to go into a slide. I knew these wheels did that thoe, but i finally decided to trim the out edge so it wouldnt do that so the rear wheels have roughly 3-4mm taken off and the front only 2mm. but we will see how they work tomorrow.  As for how the board looks well it looks strange, as i droped it as low as it could go with the trucks and wheels being a total of 14" wide it looks preety killer. anyways i think im going to bed, but ill take a picture and upload it so you can see what i mean about the board.

got home from the concert  http://www.screamsofsilence.com/ , and well i started polishing my one board, well its not up to uber shiness but its decent enough, so i had to cut grip tape and apply it and mount all the hardware as it was begging me to. so its now 245 in the morning and im finished it so if its nice tomorrow morning its gonna get its maiden voyage. But i need to get to bed so sleep tight

Here a recap as i feel like sharing, me my two roomies and one of their buddies rolled out of our house at like 11:30 yesterday, we rode up to the c-Train(Light rail transit), to head down town, we stoped at the SAIT station, jumped off there to meet up with my buddy and old roomate, then we proceded to carv down the entrence road to the one parking lot and proceed down tenth street(the entrence roat is very rough but once you get down to tenth and the sidewalk then you can bomb the hill to the bottom. But anywasy we rode all the way down town to meet up with another of the roomies friends, so i brough one of my spare boards for him to ride (he will probably want me to make him a couple now), but we bombed his parking garage of where he lives for a hour or so.
It was a nice 6 story garage with the down section in the center and the up sections on each end so you would just flow from the side to the center to the side again alternating if you wanted to. but you could only hit the top 3 level the majority of the time becasue they had a gate that led to the 3 levels that were underground, we all timed it nicely once and got to bomb the whole thing as a car cam out of the bottom levels, very very nice.
When they went down town more for some food, where they had mini bike races going on, a car show, and a bunch of other things, it was the calgary film festival this weekend so a bunch of things were happening.
So we got some food which i knew i was going to be tasting for the next couple hours, but then we found a nice 8 lvl parking garage right downtown, no security camera except at the entrence gate for the cars, it had that rubber coating on the floor, and i would of put this garage at mabey a year old, casue everything was in mint condition, this garage was built with two sections the one side was like a traditional rectangular parking garage where you go up on the ends, and the other section roatated the other way and was square in shape and more steep so you could keep alot of speed going down it, and you could alternate in between them if you wanted. they also had a big ramp on the out side and a spiral ramp in the center of the square section but way too steep for the width.

So we hit that elevator and rode that garage a good dozen times going from the 8th down to the car entrance gate on the 2nd, and there were only cars on the 2nd and 3rd floors some people (not to sterio type but the asians had death in there eyes when looking at us) but there was a lady in a nissan who had a smile ear to ear when we rode by.

We then went down to millenium skate park and rode the big halfpipe/full pipe bowl for a bit ( as no one was riding it so we could fool around, then rode a bunch of the other parts of the park, note to self drop decks are bad at parks :P  (but i already knew that)

so we did a bit more riding and we decide to head back about 4:30, had to get ready for the party that was going on that night at the old roomies house/bands house 4 of us went out for a short ride last night about 1 in the morning which was nice casue then you can hit the major streets as there is near no traffic at all.

all in all it was an awesome day, and we will probably do it next weekend as we need to ride as much as possible before teh season is over.
